details ▸
California law requires safe fire or emergency exits leading to a street or hallway, and requires stairs, hallways and exits to be kept litter free. Storage areas, garages and basements must be kept free of combustible materials. San Francisco's Housing Code separately treats inadequate exits and inadequate fire protection equipment as conditions that make a building substandard, which is the finding behind a notice of violation.

- San Francisco Housing Code §1001(m), (n)
- Smoke detector problems have been reported here.Worth checkingⓘLook for a smoke detector in each bedroom and in the common stairwell, and for a carbon monoxide detector if the unit has a gas stove, a gas heater or an attached garage.
