    note: property manager, owner or the owner's agent needs to provide a proof of the workability of the fire escape ladders. non-working fire escape drop ladder is a life safety hazard and must be corrected immediately. provide a written report from a qualified service company or contractor stating that all parts and cables have been tested and are functional or contact the housing inspector (within 30 days) to witness lowering the ladder in person. test and verify that all windows or doors leading to emergency fire escape are operational and unobstructed. advise occupants not to block the path of emergency exits on the inside. **reminder** all manufacturers recommend that the fire escape drop ladder be maintained and serviced annually, particularly the cable and all moving parts. lubricate and drop the ladder at least once a year.
